Translations for use in Italy

Sworn translations are done and registered at an Italian courthouse with tax fees, by a legal translator approved by the Italian Ministry of Justice.

The Italian government will only recognize Italian sworn legal translations of public documents from abroad such as: driver licenses, birth, marriage, death or divorce certificates, police and financial statements, university degrees and transcripts, work and real estate contracts.

Sworn translations are from English or Japanese to Italian.

Translations for use abroad

Foreign governments and institutions such as in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, India, Pakistan, the Philippines simply require certified translations, certified for accuracy.

While certified translation are mostly for use abroad from Italian to English or Japanese , English to Italian certified translations are used by private entities in Italy.

Examples:
university degrees, transcripts, criminal records, birth, marriage, death, divorce and residency certificates, job contracts, and financial tax returns.

Translations in native English

I translate or edit all kinds of documents to native American English.

If you have a document in Italian or already in English, I can help you make sure it is natural or American English.

Examples:
websites, restaurant menus, movie scripts, books (not poetry), presentations and professional letters.

License to drive in Italy

If you have a valid non-EU driver license, I can make an Italian sworn translation for you, which allows you to drive legally in Italy equivalent to an International Driving Permit (IDP) or International driver license issued in your home country.

Example driver licenses from:
UK, USA, Canada, Japan, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, India, Ukraine, Israel, etc.

Notary translations

If you don’t read Italian, all notary acts (power of attorney, purchase, sale, succession, gifting) must be legally translated for you.

Your notary may offer and charge you for their office assistant to translate for you at their notary price.

Alternatively, I offer you independent, local, ministry of justice approved, native English translation support through the entirely transparent process.

Apostille and Italian public documents

I can save you time and get public documents from the commune and province of Como on your behalf with the correct certificates of origin (Apostille) for use abroad and translate them all in one shot.

Examples:
Italian police report (casellario giudiziale), on-going investigations report (carichi pendenti), family status, residence, birth certificates, apostille, etc.

Trial translations

I translate between English and Italian all manner of trial related documents at the request of victims, the public prosecutor’s office and judges.

victim’s theft report to the police, international investigation letters, trial proceedings and judgements.

Wedding documents

Getting legally married in Italy?

Depending upon your situation the document requirements are different from simple sworn translations of Certificate of Capacity to Marry to long form birth certificates.
